About Earth Hour

Earth Hour is an event which encourages everyone to turn off their lights for an hour each year and to think and talk about what they can do to protect the environment and Earth. It was started 17 year ago in Australia but lots of countries around the world now take part.

Over 188 countries took part in Earth Hour in 2019.

Earth Hour next takes place on Saturday 22nd March between 8.30 p.m. – 9.30 p.m. local time. Join millions of people on Earth Hour by turning off the lights.

Fun Ideas for Earth Hour

Here are some ideas of what you can do during Earth Hour:-

  1. Go Stargazing.
  2. Play a board game as a family.
  3. Put on a shadow puppet show.
  4. Storytime in the dark.
  5. Play hide and seek in the dark.
  6. Go for a night-time walk with your family.
